Beekeeping 101Long Beach Beekeepers offers Beekeeping 101 as an introduction to beekeeping. Classes are held 8AM-9:30AM February through December on the first Saturday of the month and include instruction, discussions and suiting up for hive inspections. Class schedule impacted by weather conditions or events at the garden on occasion. See our Events page for updates and to register. Class size limited.
| Bee PreparedBee Prepared is a beekeeping course offered to turn a beginner into a backyard beekeeper. Includes online classroom instruction and hands-on experience. Topics include hive management; bee biology; recognizing and treating common diseases and predators; and legal requirements. After completing the course successfully, students will be eligible, at club discretion, to receive a starter bee colony at no additional cost. Bees are subject to availability. Frames and other hive equipment not included. $80 for members; $100 for non-members. See the Events page for class availability. |

Always LearningWe offer a variety of classes throughout the year, including honey processing; assembling bee boxes and frames; bee rescue; honey tasting; mead making; and making products using beeswax.
