Long Beach Beekeepers
This course provides the instruction and hands-on experience to turn a beginner into a confident backyard beekeeper. Topics include hive management, bee biology, recognizing and treating common diseases and predators, and legal requirements.
After completing the course successfully, participants are eligible to receive a starter bee colony when available at no additional cost. Frames and other hive equipment not included.
There will by an in person introductory group class from 8-10am Saturday October 9th at our South 40 teaching hives. Then there will be two Tuesday evening online classes October 12 and 19th, 7-9pm.
Then there will be a two hour in-person mentoring session working in hives at the bee sanctuary with an experienced beekeeper in a safe manner with face masks required. You can sign up for your 2 hour mentor session on Saturday or Sunday. You will need your own beekeeping suit, gloves, hive tool and smoker.
