Long Beach Beekeepers
Long Beach Beekeepers meet on the first Sunday of the month and welcome everyone from the experienced to the novice beekeeper to those just curious about beekeeping. In March we take the show on the road and put some muscle into sprucing up our Willow Springs Bee Sanctuary.
The sanctuary provides a temporary home for swarms while we search for the bees' forever home with a qualified beekeeper. Members may also find a temporary home for their hives when home repairs necessitate a bee-free yard. As we move into what is expected to be a busy bee season following the recent rain, it's time to make sure the sanctuary is ready to accept an influx of honey bees needing a temporary home.
Bee suits and drinking water recommended. Please bring tools if you can. Look for a details in your confirmation email after you register. We request volunteers park outside the sanctuary (the WIllow Springs Park lot and 28th Street are good options) to facilitate the clean up.
