Picture this: Your new neighbors have noticed bees buzzing around a compost bin left behind by the old neighbor. As you suspect, a hive is living in there, and they need to go! But what should you do?? This hands-on class provides instruction on everything you need to know to perform a "Cut-Out," that is gently removing the bees and comb and properly placing them in a new, manageable, forever home. We have gathered the perfect collection of not-so-great hive hosts (a hollow statue, a terra cotta planter, a wine barrel, and more) for you to get your gloved hands in there and SAVE THOSE BEES!
This class is designed for second-or-beyond-year beekeepers looking to expand their knowledge, who want to delve into the world of bee rescues. Participants must be fully suited and gloved. A hive tool and smoker are recommended. Summer is upon us, so don't forget your water!
MINIMUM ENROLLMENT: Enrollment will be cancelled and payments refunded if we do not meet the minimum number of 10 students for this class.
