Polyphenols have antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Could the polyphenols in grape seed powder be used to combat Nosema in bees? Mark Swenson, a Ph.D. student in microbiology at the University of California at Riverside, is on a mission to find out. Learn about Mark's research and goal to develop a sustainably sourced, natural treatments against Nosema by partnering with local vineyards to collect grape pomace, the byproduct of wine making.

Long Beach Beekeepers meet on the first Sunday of the month and welcome everyone from the experienced to the novice beekeeper to those just curious about beekeeping. The in-person meeting is open to the general public. Members who opt to attend online will be emailed the meeting link and passcode.
