Long Beach Beekeepers
It is common knowledge among SoCal beekeepers that survivor bees do better at combatting Varroa mites than Italian bees. But is there science to back the folklore? Yes! And Genesis Chong's research proves the point with her presentation, Living with the Enemy: Parasite Tolerance in Survivor Bees.. Join us as we welcome this University of California Riverside PhD candidate and key member of the Center for Integrated Bee Research (CIBER) team.
Long Beach Beekeepers meet on the first Sunday of the month and welcome everyone from the experienced to the novice beekeeper to those just curious about beekeeping. The in-person meeting is open to the general public. Members who opt to attend online will be emailed the meeting link and passcode.
In addition to a guest speaker, Maria Greschenko will provide our Honey of the Month. What a sweet deal!
Special thanks to EDCO Recycling & Transfer for hosting our meetings.
