City Nature Challenge


The Office of Climate Action & Sustainability is hosting our annual City Nature Challenge bioblitz event at Willow Springs Park on Saturday, April 26, 2025. City Nature Challenge is an international initiative organized by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County to record wildlife population data in urban areas. During the Challenge, people across the globe are encouraged to identify and contribute images of local plants, animals, and fungi to share with other community scientists through the iNaturalist app

Event Details:

 Saturday, April 26, 2025
⏰ 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m
Willow Springs Park, 2745 Orange Avenue Long Beach, CA 90806

Volunteers will be sharing their knowledge and passion for beekeeping.

Volunteers will need to be able to pick up the following items from a Long Beach residence and bee sanctuary to bring to event:

  • 6'x3' foldable table
  • bin containing tabling materials
  • teaching hive
  • observation hive (with a frame of live bees)

Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own beekeeping supplies as props:

  • smoker
  • hive tools
  • bee suit, etc
  • educational supplies: books, photos

During the event, volunteer will be:

  • setting up table, at ~8:30 AM
  • speaking to guests
  • selling honey sticks
  • packing up table at the end of event, then returning tabling supplies back to Long Beach residence
