Hive Cut-Outs

Picture this: Your new neighbors have asked you for help after noticing bees buzzing near a bird house in their new backyard.  As you suspect, a colony of honeybees is living in there, and they need to go! But how can you help?? This hands-on class provides instruction on everything you need to know to perform a "Cut-Out," that is gently removing the bees and comb and properly placing them in a new, manageable, forever home. Students will get hands-on experience performing cut outs, under the supervision of experienced bee rescuers. 

This class is designed for second-year+ beekeepers looking to expand their knowledge, who want to delve into the world of bee rescues. Participants must be fully suited and gloved. A hive tool and smoker are recommended. Summer is around the corner, so don't forget your water!
