Hello, all! As promised, here is a place to share your questions and progress during the next few weeks, as your honey water metamorphoses into mead.

    Hi everyone! Just checking in.

Saturday night we decided to proof the cup of yeast to add just in case- unfortunately the cup of yeast seems to have been dead. It may have been user error- hoping you all had better luck.

Fortunately i had some of my own yeast at home so I proofed that successfully and added it that night. When I checked in on it sunday morning there was fermentation!

If yours is not fermenting you should pitch some additional yeast!

Your airlock will be active with bubbles if fermentation is happening.

By the time we realized the yeast from the original batching and rebatch was dead, it was already too late for one of our meads, as mold had developed. The other doesn’t show mold yet so I’m hoping I can pick up the fresh yeast from the brew shop in time. Pretty bummed

Unfortunately, mine developed mold too, so I had to throw it out.  :-(

I got new yeast on the weekend, probably just in time. It is bubbling away now.
